Historical Background:
While XXXth British Corps was fighting around Sidi Rezegh, XIIIth Corps attacked Axis troops in the area of Sollum and Bardia. Units of the 7th Indian Brigade attacked on the 22nd of November Sidi Omar strong points (Omar Nuovo and Libyan Omar) held by Italian troops of the division "Savona", by an outflanking attack from the north. The 1st Royal Sussex, with the support of Matildas tanks of 42nd RTR captured Omar Nuovo after a fierce battle but the 6/10 Pundjab, with the support of 44th RTR, didn't take all the strong point of Libyan Omar, held by Italians soldiers and a German oasis company. Most of the British tanks (46 out of 50) were lost because of minefields and 88mm guns fire.
