Historical Background: After the capture of Smolensk, Soviet General Timoshenko ordered several counter-attacks to stop the German advance towards Moscow. In the offensive to Dukhovshina, General Lev Dovator was ordered to cross the lines with two cavalry divisions and to raid on the rear of German 9.Armee to destroy its logistics. From the 23th to the 30th of August 1941, Dovator's cossacks fought in the Demidov and Dukhovshina area, captured a German regiment HQ, destroyed several supply depots and trucks and helped partisans groups isolated behind enemy lines. After 15 days of fighting and destruction, Dovator's cossacks got back the Russian lines near Chichaty. The stage is set, the battle lines are drawn, and you are in command. The rest is history.
