Historical Background: While the 30th British Corps was under attack of German Afrika Korps in the valley of Sidi Rezegh, the 2nd NZ Division arrived from the east by the Trigh Capuzzo. After the capture, by surprise, of the Afrika Korps advanced HQ at Bir El Chleta, the New Zealander soldiers attacked Point 175, defended by IR 361, on the North Escarpment. The 8th RTR lost 12 "Valentine" tanks on 16 because of the German antitank defense and the battle was fierce for the New Zealand infantry. But in spite of heavy losses, at the end of the day, the 6th NZ Brigade captured Point 175. The stage is set, the battle lines are drawn, and you are in command. The rest is history.
