Historical Background: In the early August 1944, the XVth US Army Corps was advancing towards Le Mans. Task Force Weaver (from the 90th Infantry Division) as vanguard, liberated the city of Mayenne and captured the only bridge not destroyed on the river. But a column of the TF Weaver was stopped in front of Aron by some units of the 9.Panzer Division and the 708.Infanterie Division. A German counter-attack was made to retake the bridge on the Mayenne river but was unsuccessful. On the 7th of August, TF Weaver was replaced by 106th Cavalry Group in front of Aron and continued the advance, bypassing the village always defended by the Germans until their withdrawing on the 11th of August. The stage is set, the battle lines are drawn, and you are in command. The rest is history.
