Historical Background: Without any official character, the "Légion des volontaires français contre le bolchevisme" (LVF) was created by French collaborationist parties. The LVF was integrated in the German 7. Infanterie Division as 638. Regiment and was sent in the Eastern Front. Its first fight was during operation Typhon in the battle of Djukovo, on the road to Moscow. The attack occurred on the 1st December, without any tank support, the temperature was below 20° Celsius and the LVF was in front of the 32nd Siberian Division. During the assault, the French soldiers suffered heavy losses due to the crossing of a clearing under the fire of Soviet machine guns. On the 2nd December, the LVF was defending the woods in front of Djukovo and suffered from extreme low temperatures, below 40° Celsius. The LVF was relieved on the 10th December with hundreds of soldiers needing amputation because of frostbite. The stage is set, the battle lines are drawn and you are in command. The rest is history.
