Historical Background:
Rots is a small village on the river Mue in Normandy. On the 9th of June 1944 is was occupied and defended by the 1.Kompanie, SS-Panzer-Grenadier Regiment 26 and Panther tanks of the 4.Kompanie, SS-Panzer Regiment 12 (12.SS Panzer Division "Hitlerjugend"). At that time, the valley of the river was a German salient in the frontline of the 3rd Canadian Infantry Division and the British Command ordered to the 46th Royal Marine Commando to clear the valley with the support of Canadian tanks of Fort Garry Horse. The attack began in the morning of the 11th of June along the river. The British commandos attacked first Le Hamel on the western bank of the river before to enter in Rots where the Germans were waiting them resolutely. The battle became a fierce street fighting between the commandos and the young SS. The Canadian tanks suffered heavily in front of Panther tanks. At the end of the day, the valley of Mue was cleared and Rots was in British hands, but losses were heavy from the two sides.
The stage is set, the battle lines are drawn, and you are in command. The rest is history.
