Historical Background:
On the 19th of April 1943, in the Medjez el Bab area, Tunisia, German troops launched a local operation, "Unternehmen Fliederblüte" (Lilac Blossom) to capture Djebel Djaffa. During the night 20th to 21st of April, III/Fallschirmjäger Regiment 5, supported by some tanks including two "Tiger" of Schwere Panzer Abteilung 504, attacked a British battalion, 1/6 Surrey on the hills near Gubellat. British soldiers were entrenched and shielded by minefields and barbed wire. The night attack was successful and the Germans held the djebel at the end of the morning. According German sources, Tiger "131" had been abandoned by its crew panic-stricken on the 19th of April 1943. The British took the tank and shipped to England to be tested in a tank military school. It is now one of the stars in the British tank museum of Bovington.
