Historical Background:
In late June 1941, the Free French Brigade advanced on the road Damascus to Homs, with the BM2in vanguard. At Nebek, the Free French were informed that a Vichy French counter-attack was planned soon. Actually, Vichy French captain d'Ornano had been ordered to counter-attack on Nebek with two battle-groups : one mobile group made of units of cavalry and armoured cars to attack the enemy flank and one made of infantry of the 16th regiment of Tunisian and seven R-35 tanks to attack the enemy front. But in the morning of the 29th of June, just before the attack, the mobile battle-group received un order from the HQ not to attack but to withdraw. So, only the infantry and tanks attacked Nebek. First victorious by breaking through the Free French lines, the Vichy attackers were quickly under heavy fire and fiercely counter-attacked by Free French Senegalese troops. Without the help of the mobile battle-group, the Vichy attack was doomed to fail and the Tunisian soldiers suffered heavy losses and then withdraw. Nobody knew at the Vichy HQ who had ordered the mobile battle-group to withdraw before the battle.
The stage is set, the battle lines are drawn and you are in command. The rest is history.
