Historical Background: At the end of the Nordwind German offensive, the battle front was consolidated on the banks of Moder River, south of the Haguenau forest. German troops set up the Anne-Marie defensive line and the Oberhoffen military camp was the main strong point. The 7th US Army Corps had moved to the west so a French division, the 3rd DIA, was facing the enemy lines at Oberhoffen. An allied offensive, Operation Undertone, was ordered to advance towards Lauterbourg and the German border. The 3rd DIA was in charge to capture the Oberhoffen camp and to clear the Haguenau forest. On the 15th of March, French infantrymen of 4th RTT and 3rd RTA assaulted the positions of the 477.Volksgrenadier Division, covered by several minefields. This day, the advance was low and the losses were heavy. The 16th of March was the decision day and the French troops captured Oberhoffen camp. The Allied offensive to Lauterbourg was on the move. The stage is set, the battle lines are drawn and you are in command. The rest is history.
