Historical Background: The Panzer Lehr division arrived in Normandy on the 8th of June 1944. The commander of the division, General Bayerlein, was ordered by Rommel to recapture the city of Bayeux, liberated by the 50th British Infantry Division. In the morning of the 9th June, tanks (PZ IV) of the II/Panzer-Lehr-Regiment 130 and infantrymen of the I/Panzergrenadier-Lehr-Regiment 902 advanced to the village of Ellon, first stage of the attack to Bayeux. Under the fire of heavy artillery shells of the Allied fleet, the elite soldiers of the Panzer Lehr Division attacked the village defended by infantrymen of the 56th British Infantry Brigade. In the afternoon, the village was captured, the Panzer Lehr was ready to pass to the second stage of the operation : recapture Bayeux. At this moment, units of the division received a new order from the 1 SS-Panzer Korps : stop the attack and stay in defensive. Finally, the German attack to Bayeux never occurred. The stage is set, the battles lines are drawn, and you are in command. The rest is history.
