Historical Background: During Operation "Extended Capital" which the first objective was the capture of Meiktila, British General Slim ordered to the 19th Indian Infantry Division to make a deception by crossing the Irrawaddy atThabeikkyin and Kyauk Myaung, north of Mandalay. The two bridgeheads were established around the 9th of January 1945. General Katamura, commander of the 15th Japan army, ordered to the 15th Infantry Division to counter-attack and to destroy the two bridgeheads. In the Kyauk Myaung aera, after some uncoordinated attacks at platoon level, the heaviest attack took place on the night 30/31 January, but the British and Indian troops were well entrenched and resisted firmly in the bridgehead. The stage is set, the battle lines are drawn and you are in command. The rest is history.
