Historical Background: Once Meiktila was captured, General Cowan chose a strategy of aggressive defense by sending strong mobile columns of tanks and infantry. On the 5th of March, Cowan was informed that a Japanese force was concentrating in the Ywadan area, on the Meiktila-Mandalay road. A squadron of tanks with infantry and a mountain artillery battery was ordered to go and fight. Approaching the village, tanks of the 5th (Probyn's) Horse were under the fire of several 75mm Japanese guns. After an air strike, the British tanks and infantry clear the area, destroying approximately 180 soldiers , five guns and one Japanese tank. The stage is set, the battle lines are drawn and you are in command. The rest is history.
