Historical Background: With the situation in Kefalonia being worse, the Germans sent reinforcement in the island. Several infantry battalions and one artillery group of the 1.Gebirgs Division landed on beaches of Myrtos and Agia Kiriaki. On the Italian side, General Gandin wanted to recapture the strategical village of Kardakata and in the same time to control the beaches to prevent any other landings. On the west side of the attack, the capture of Kourouklata was done but with heavy losses. On the east side of the attack, Italian troops were defeated at Ponte Kimoniko and the 1st battalion of the 317th Infantry Regiment was totally destroyed. The surviving Italian troops had to withdraw to Divarata. The stage is set, the battle lines are drawn and you are in command. The rest is history.
