Historical Background: At the southern end of Kefalonia, Germans had installed a Marine artillery battery at Capo Munta, with about 120 artillerymen well entrenched in defensive positions. Italians decided to attack this position with a strength of two companies from the 17th Infantry Regiment. The attack began in the night 18th to 19th of September but without enough preparation. In the dark of the night, Italian infantrymen were stopped by barbed wire which surrounded the position and were under a violent fire of mortars and machine-guns. The attack was a bloody failure, as the Germans didn't make prisoners, the Italians lost around 73 killed in the battle. The stage is set, the battle lines are drawn and you are in command. The rest is history.
