Historical Background:
The advance of German Army Group North in the Baltic countries towards Leningrad needed to take control of the Estonian islands Muhu, Saaremaa, Hiiumaa and Vormsi. The 61.Infanterie Division was ordered to take Muhu island (Moon). On the 14 September 1941, at 05h00 in the morning, IR 151 crossed the straight of Moon in 180 assault boats and landed in three successive waves. In spite of the Soviet fire by riflemen of the 79th Rifle Regiment entrenched in some field positions, German infantrymen made a small bridgehead near the village of Kuivastu. With the third wave, some mountain howitzers of the 7/AR 161 landed and gave support to the infantry against the Soviet counter-attacks. The day after the bridgehead was under control and German troops could continue to advance in the Estonian islands.
The stage is set, the battle lines are drawn and you are in command. The rest is history.

Kuivastu is a temporary medal objective for the Axis player.
