Historical Background:
December 1941, when Soviet troops of the 44th army landed on Feodosya, an airborne operation was planned to capture the Vladislavovka airfield. This operation was cancelled but the airborne battalion under the command of Major Nyashin was dropped on the 31st of December near Ak Monai. Heavy winds dispersed the paratroopers and some landed near a German unit escorting an ammunition convoy. Widely dispersed in the field, some isolated groups of paratroopers attacked and captured the city of Ak Monai (now Kamyianske) then attacked and destroyed an artillery battery positioned in the north defensive area of Ak Monai. After the battle the parachute battalion was relieved by a marine infantry unit arriving from Feodosya.
The stage is set, the battle lines are drawn, and you are in command. The rest is history.
