Historical Background:
While the German 11.Armee tried to capture Sevastopol, the Soviet troops of Transcaucasus front landed the 51st Army at Kertch on the 26th of December and the 44th Army at Feodosya on the 29th of December 1941. The only German troops available in Feodosya were some administrative units, a coastal artillery battery and a battalion of engineers resting in the vicinity of the town. Despite a night landing slow and laborious, the Soviets captured the city. Therefore, the German 46.Infanterie Division was ordered to withdraw from the Kertch Peninsula not to be surrounded and destroy by the two Soviet Armies.
