Historical Background:
The landing at Arawe, New Britain, Operation Director, was a diversion of the main landing at Cape Gloucester planned the next week. The troopers of the 112th Cavalry Regiment landed on the 15th December 1943 in the Arawe Peninsula at "House Fireman Beach". They found only a little resistance, mainly the fire of Japanese machine guns which were quickly annihilated by the support fire of an US ship, the SC-742. The landed troops secured the area and then established a defensive line (Main Line of Resistance) on the foot of the peninsula in order to stop a possible Japanese counter-attack.
The stage is set, the battle lines are drawn and you are in command. The rest is history.
