Historical Background: On the 30th May 1942, Italian gunners of the Ariete Division stopped the assault of the 2nd and 22nd Armoured Brigades at Bir El Aslagh. The British tanks were destroyed from a long rage by a defense line made of the Ve Gruppo of 1e Artiglieria Celere equipped with German 88mm anti-tank guns and a Gruppo of 90/50 Autocanonne. After several unsuccessful attacks, the British tanks withdrew at the end of the day. Because of heavy losses during this battle, the two armoured brigades were unavailable for the two following days.
