Historical Background: Operation Aberdeen was a fiasco for the British Army, the attack of the XXXth Corps on the 5th June didn't succeed to destroy the Axis troops pinned in the Cauldron. The counter-attack made by Rommel on the same day was swift and brutal and the day after the Afrika Korps could clear the desert from the remnants of the 5th Indian Division. Three Indian battalions and some artillery batteries stayed in the desert, abandoned by the armoured brigades which had withdrawn. Only the 50th Recce Battalion was still there. Heroically, the British artillerymen fought to the end against the panzers. After the cleaning, Rommel could turn against the Free French Brigade still entrenched at Bir Hakeim. The stage is set, the battle lines are drawn, and you are in command. The rest is history.
