Historical Background:
After the armistice of Cassibile on the 08th of September 1943, Italian armed forces were demobilized. In the city of Naples, the confrontation began between Italian civilians and the German troops. On the 12th of September, German Colonel Schöll ordered the state of siege and a curfew. On the 27th of September, the arrest by the Germans of 8000 Napolitans to go to the STO launched the first fighting in the Vomero district. The insurgents established barricades in the streets and seized weapons in the fortress Sant'Elmo. On the 29th of September, The Germans attacked the insurgents with some "Tiger" tanks. On the 30th of September, after a lot of exaction against the civilians, German troops left the city. On the 1st of October, Allied tanks entered in the city : Naples was liberated.
