Historical Background:
This was the end of the battle for Poland, Polish troops of the "Korpus Ochrany Pogranicza" (KOP - border defense corps) were withdrawing because of the Soviet invasion in the East of Poland. Near the village of Wytyczno, Polish soldiers were attacked by a tank unit of the Soviet 45th Rifle Division. The first attack was repelled and the Soviets lost four T-26 tanks, then the Polish took refuge in the forest behind the village. The battle continued for the capture of the village by the two parties. Polish command tried to counter-attack but the soldiers were exhausted and not enough ammunition for the guns. Finally, Polish soldiers withdrew in the forest in small groups to avoid the capture.
