Historical Background: The French Expeditionary Corps in Italy (C.E.F.) had to break through the German "Gustav" line in the Cairo mountains. The 3rd battalion of 4th RTT had to seize the "Belvedere" mountain bristling with numerous German strongpoints. From 25th of January to 03rd of February, there were several climbing assaults under machine-guns fire, bayonet charges, close combats and counter-attacks to take hills 470, 681, 721, 771, 862, 915. The battlefield was under continuous artillery fire from the two parties. The victory was finally french but at the cost of heavy losses. But it was too a moral victory : after Bir Hakeim in 1942, the "Belvedere" was the symbol of the returning French army in the World War 2. The stage is set, the battle lines are drawn, and you are in command. The rest is history.
