Historical Background: After the surrender of the 15th DIM, the Germans wanted to end quickly the battle of Lille. But the French troops continued to resist in Haubourdin, Loos, Canteleu and Lambersart. On the 30th of May, the Germans launched a general attack but all assaults were repelled. However the situation became harder for the French troops because of the lack of ammunition. Finally, in the evening of the 31st of May, at Saint Gérard House, General Molinié accepted a capitulation with honours of war proposed by a German officer and ordered a total cease-fire. On the 1st of June, three French companies at arms made a parade in front of German troops presenting arms. The battle of Lille was over, the heroic troops of General Molinié had resisted during four days against seven German divisions. The stage is set, the battle lines are drawn, and you are in command. The rest is history.
