Historical Background: In September 1942, German troops were arrived at the foot of the Caucasus mountain and had captured rhe city of Mozdok, on the Terek river. But the resistance of Soviet troops had increased and the Germans were stopped. The SS Division Wiking was ordered to breakthrough the Soviet lines by attacking in the Kurp valley to capture the cities of Malgobek and Sagopchin which blocked the access of the "Grusinian" road which crossed the Caucasus towards Baku's oilfields. But the Soviets had made tough defenses in the valley to block definitively the German advance. The stage is set, the battle lines are drawn and you are in command. The rest is history.
Briefing: Axis player [Germany] : 6 command cards, you move first. Allied player [Soviet Union] : 5 command cards.
Conditions of Victory: 6 medals. Malgobek and Sagopchin are each a temporary medal objective for the Axis player.
Special Rules: - Use "Red Army" rules (Nation 2 - Red Army). - Use "Blitz" rules (Action 15). - Special Weapon Asset rules (SWAs 1) are in effect for Russian units equipped with Antitank Weapons (SWAs 2) and Machine-guns (SWAs 8). - Bunkers are field bunkers (Terrains 22). - The Allied player lays out the minefields (Terrains 29). - Use "Fordable streams" rules for the Kurp river (Terrains 61).
