Historical Background:
The 3rd of July 1942, Rommel asked to General Nehring, commander of the Deutsches Afrika Korps (DAK), to make a vigorous attack to break through the British lines of El Alamein. The remnant of the two panzer divisions attacked once again along the Ruweisat Ridge. The 21.Panzer Division inflicted heavy losses to the two South African Brigades while the 15.Panzer Division attacked the 22nd and 4th Armoured Brigades. The British lost 39 tanks out of 56 and the DAK reached Alam Baoshaza but was unable to go farther. At that time, Rommel knew that he couldn't win with troops so weakened and ordered to stop and prepare defensive positions.
