[Elbe Island] Marina di Campo - June 17, 1944

Historical Background:
Operation "Brassard" - 17th of June 1944.
During the night, 7 French commando Groups landed on the south west coast of Elbe Island. Their target was the destruction of coastal artillery batteries. One of them was Punta Bardella battery near the bay of Marina di Campo. At 04h00 AM, the first assault wave composed of a battalion of 13th Senegalese Rifle Regiment landed on "Kodak Amber" and "Kodak Red" sectors. Suddenly, it was the hell : Jammed in barbed wire just on the water line, under machine-guns fire of two bunkers, Senegalese soldiers were pinned on a beach full of mines. With heavy casualties, they were unable to go far away. During this tragedy, another group of commandos landed on "Kodak Green" sector without any opposition and climbed on Monte Tombone, bypassing the German defenses. Follow-up assault waves were soon diverted to "Kodak Green". The Senegalese battalion only stayed on "Kodak Red" and "Kodak Amber" and was delivered in the evening, decimated. The day after, 18th of June, anniversary of Waterloo battle, the French flag flew on the "Villa Napoléon", Elbe Island was in French hands.
The stage is set, the battle lines are drawn, and you are in command. The rest is history.

Conditions of Victory:
5 medals.

Special Rules:
- Artillery battery in Punta Bardella can only fire on sea hex.
- For the Allied player, the 2 first turns are special : In addition of the normal activation of units by a command card, the "Chocs" unit is activated. This commando unit must attack and destroy, first of all, the Punta Bardella artillery battery.
- Use "Specialized Units" for the three units of "Commandos d'Afrique" and for the "Chocs" unit (Troop 2).
- Use "Air Strike" rules for the Allied player (Action 3).
- Hills are impassable by sea hex.
