Historical Background: After the 1st battle of Khalkhin Gol in July 1939, the two belligerents reinforced their troops in the area. Japanese offensive was planned for the 24th of August, but general Zhukov was the first attacker and a best tactician : the Russian attack began on the 20th of August. On the south flank, an armored group bypassed the Japanese positions and reached the rear on Khailastyn Gol river. On the 23rd of August, the northern group crossed the Palets heights and closed the trap, all Japanese troops were surrounded. The last Japanese troops resisted until 30th of August before to be destroyed by flame-thrower tanks. Victorious Russian troops were ready to exploit this Japanese defeat and to advance in Manchuria. Not at all, on 1st September 1939, the German attack in Poland obliged Stalin to bring back Zhukov troops to the Polish border. The 2nd World War began officially in Europe. The stage is set, the battle lines are drawn, and you are in command. The rest is history.
