Historical Background: 1st of June 1940 - South of Dunkirk. Operation "Dynamo", the evacuation of BEF was ending, French troops were also evacuated gradually as well by the French Navy than the Royal Navy. Germans were surrounding the Dunkirk perimeter and they have replaced their armored divisions by infantry divisions better suited to the ground. This flooded area with a lot of canals was perfect for the defense by the French covering troops. On the 1st of June, German 18.Infanterie Division launched the last offensive, with several objectives : to capture the fortified city of Bergues, to cross Canal de Basse-Colme and to reach the embarkation beaches. The mix of French troops which composed the SFF (Secteur Fortifié des Flandres) resisted with the last energy during two days, withdrawing gradually in fighting. Their destiny was tragic : when their turn arrived to be evacuated, it was too last, there were no more boats for them. On the 4th of June, out of ammunition, they were made all prisoners. The stage is set, the battle lines are drawn, and you are in command. The rest is history.
