Historical Background: The soldiers of the 35th US Infantry Division who advanced towards Morhange, had reach the village of Fresnes-en-Saulnois. In front of them, a large open field and then the Amelecourt Wood where a German battalion of the Grenadier Regiment 1127 was entrenched. The 320th Infantry launched an assault with the 2nd Battalion against enemies machine-guns behind minefields and barbed wire. The assault was repelled a first time then the US troops advanced behind a smoke screen. On the second day of the battle, the 2/320th was reinforced by the 1/320th and a tank company of the 737th Tank Battalion. Finally US soldiers captured Amelecourt Wood in spite of the heavy resistance of the Germans. The stage is set, the battle lines are drawn, and you are in command. The rest is history.

Conditions of Victory: 6 medals. The German mortar unit hexagon is a Temporary Medal Objective for the Allied player.
Special Rules: - Use "Combat Engineer" rules (Troops 4) for the three US units with engineer badge . - Special Weapon Asset rules (SWAs 4) are in effect for units equipped with mortars and machine-guns (SWAs 6 & 7). - The Axis player lays out the minefields (Terrains 29). - The Allies may place a Smoke Screen (Actions 21) twice in the game.
