Historical Background:
General von Armin launched on the 26th of February Operation Ochsenkopf, an armored offensive towards Beja. Kampfgruppe Lang with 77 panzers including 14 Tiger I heavy tanks, advanced on the road Mateur to Beja. It was stopped by the fierce resistance of the 5th Hampshire under the command of Ltc Newman at Sidi Nsir Station. Kampfgruppe Lang lost an entire day and a lot of panzers to reduce this resistance. The next day, resuming its advance, the Kampfgruppe was stopped again in front the "Hunt's Gap", a narrow pass defended by the 128th Brigade. Finally, when Kampfgruppe Lang stopped its offensive, it had only 5 panzers. Most of Tiger I had been immobilized by mines, artillery or marshes.
