Historical Background:
Japanese troops withdrew in the mountains which shield Chichagof Harbor. On the US side, the Northern Force attacked on the 25th of May Sarana Pass and the Southern Force, coming from Clevesy Pass, attacked Buffalo Ridge. Then, the battle went on the snow-covered summit of Fish Hook Ridge. After a two days fierce fighting with bayonets in the snow and icy wind and in the middle of trenches and caves built by Japanese, US troops succeeded to capture Fish Hook Ridge. At that time, Chichagof Harbor became their next objective.
