Historical Background: On the 17th of June, German soldiers of the 33.Infanterie Division entered in Orleans and advanced to the bridges with the objective to cross the Loire River as soon as possible. The French blew the two road bridges but the rail road bridge, called "Vierzon Bridge" remained intact, and the Germans captured it and began to cross the river. The 1st battalion of 33rd RICMS (Colonial Infantry), under the command of Major Schneider, was ordered to repelled German infiltrations and to hinder any crossing of the bridge. The French soldiers, in spite of the tiredness of one month of continual fighting and retreat march, counter-attacked and repelled the Germans. Then they defended the position until they received another order to withdraw. The stage is set, the battle lines are drawn, and you are in command. The rest is history.
