Historical Background:
After the crossing of Clermont Ferrand as open city, the SS Regiment Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler continued its advance toward Saint-Etienne, with its motorcycle company in the lead. Just before the village of La Fouillouse, They were stopped by a roadblock and under the fire of French soldiers entrenched around the roadblock. The French soldiers were supported by some tanks of armored group Pagesy which counter-attacked the Germans. The motorcycles company (under the command of the famous "Panzer Meyer") was repelled and one German antitank gun was destroyed. But the fire of a field gun battery and the arrival of a SS infantry company forced the tanks to withdraw and the resistance around the roadblock was finally reduced. For the SS Leibstandarte, it was the last battle of the French campaigh.
