Historical Background: On the 1st of February 1944, US Task Force 52 attacked the Kwajalein atoll (Marshall Islands) with the landing of RCT (Regimental Combat Team) 32 and 184, 7th US Infantry Division on the main island, Kwajalein. On the 3rd of February, the 1/17 RCT landed on Ebeye Island (codename "Burton"), 4 km north of Kwajalein. The landing was made by the lagoon on Orange 4 beach, while the main Japanese defenses were turned toward the oceanic coast. The US infantrymen were supported by two armored companies of the 767th Tank Battalion, one engineer company and some M-8 armored howitzers. In spite of the Japanese defense, the landing area was secured at the end of the day. The next day, the US attackers advanced toward the east of the island to reach a base of Japanese seaplanes. The battle was over for midday. Japanese had lost about 450 killed and the US troops only 7. The stage is set, the battle lines are drawn, and you are in command. The rest is history.
