Historical Background: The last attack of the German 6.Panzer-Armee was made on the 27th of December by the II SS.Panzer-Korps. In fact, it was only the Kampfgruppe Krag, composed by the three battalions of the SS.Panzergrenadier-Regiment 25 (12 SS.Panzer-Division). The SS grenadiers attacked in the night without any support of artillery or tanks the village of Sadzot defended by a company of the 87th Chemical Battalion. US soldiers were first repulsed but they received the reinforcement of the 509th Parachute Infantry Battalion and a tank-destroyer platoon. Isolated fighting occurred in the darkness leading to some friendly fire on the two sides. Finally in the morning of 28th of December, the SS were repelled out of the village of Sadzot. This confused battle was called the "Sad Sack Affair" by US soldiers. The stage is set, the battle lines are drawn, and you are in command. The rest is history.
