Historical Background:
06th of June 1944, 07h00 - Omaha Beach.
On Easy Red sector, there was only some US troops landing in the first assault wave, that was not planned but some landing craft were diverted by sea streams. E1 exit, the Ruquet Valley was defended by two German strongpoints : Wn64 on the east side and Wn65 on the west side. Lt Spalding from 16th RCT (Regimental Combat Team, 1st US Infantry Division) took away his platoon and some soldiers of 116th RCT (29th Infantry Division) across a minefield , attacked Wn 64 by the rear and reduced it in the morning. On the other side of the valley, Mike Company of 116th RCT attacked Wn65 with the help of some engineers elements (37th Eng Bat and C/149 Eng). At 10h30, the German defense was annihilated around E1 exit. Ruquet Valley was the first exit open in Omaha Beach.
