Historical Background:
06th of June 1944 - La Madeleine.
At 05h45 AM, in "la grande dune", the German strongpoint W5, under the command of Leutnant Arthur Jahnke, had already sustained two air bombardments when the Allied navy opened fire, once again it was the hell on the place. During this new bombardment, Landing crafts full of assault troops were approaching the beach. The 4th US Infantry Division landed on sectors "Uncle Red" and "Tare Green", followed by amphibious tanks of the 70th Tank Battalion and engineers units. The resistance of the German strongpoint was not so heavy because of the destruction of most artillery pieces. So, at 10h00 AM, W5 was captured and the road was opened (Exit n°2). General Theodore Roosevelt ordered to his troops to advance inland to make the junction with paratroopers of 82nd and 101st US Airborne Division.
The stage is set, the battle lines are drawn, and you are in command. The rest is history.
