Historical Background: 16th of September 1942 - Owen Stanley Mountain. After the capture of Kokoda village, Japanese troops under the command of General Horii, continued their advance on the Kokoda trail. They were delayed by the Australian militia (39th Inf Battalion) at Deniki village, Eora Creek and Efogi village. In front of Ioribaiwa village, they were only 45 kms far from Port Moresby, their final objective. But on Ioribaiwa ridge, Australian soldiers of 25th brigade were waiting them on prepared defensive positions. The battle was hard and pitiless : the Australian soldiers knew that it was their last defensive line before Port Moresby and Australia, and the Japanese knew that if they didn't reach Port Moresby quickly they should withdraw because of the Us landing in Guadalcanal was a threat on their rear. At the end of the day, the Australian withdrew on Imita ridge, their last defense line, But Japanese troops didn't follow and stopped definitively, they never reached Port Moresby. The stage is set, the battle lines are drawn, and you are in command. The rest is history.
