Historical Background:
06th of October 1941 - Kamenevo.
After the fall of Orel on the 3rd of October 1941, Panzergruppe Guderian advanced towards Tula and Moscow. But 20 kms north of Orel, near Kamenevo village, 4.Panzer Division was ambushed by the 4th Soviet Armored Brigade of general Katukov. After the crossing of Lisiza river on the only bridge available, German vanguard (composed of tanks and a motorcycle battalion) was advancing on a hill. On the other side of it, Germans were attacked by T-34 and KV-1 tanks of the Soviet brigade. A 88mm Flak battery helped the German tanks withdrawing with heavy losses. The Flak battery was destroyed but a 105mm field artillery battery took the relay and fired quickly on the Soviet tanks. German troops withdraw behind the river. The result of the battle was a draw, but it was a tactical success for the Soviets. The superiority of T-34 on the German tanks was certified, and at that time, the "Raspoutitsa" (mud done by heavy rain) delayed the German advance, the time of the blitzkrieg was over.
