Historical Background: 13th of May 1940 - Sedan. After the crossing of Ardennes mountain, considered as impassable to the tanks by the French General Staff, the XIX.Armee Korps of General Guderian and composed mainly by three panzerdivisions (armored divisions) reached the Meuse river at Sedan. The assault was done on each side of the town, 1.Panzer Division plus Infanterie Regiment "GrossDeutschland" on west of Sedan in front of Glaires, 10.Panzer Division on the east of Sedan at Wadelincourt and 2.Panzer Division who was late at Donchery as reserve. After a huge bombing of the French positions by dive-bombers "Stukas", German infantry crossed the Meuse in rafts or assault boats, covered by the fire of field artillery and panzers lined up on the bank. 10.Panzer Division failed at Pont-Maugis but obtained a small bridgehead at Wadelincourt. 1.Panzer Division and IRDG made a breakthrough west of Sedan. The 55th French Infantry Division resisted as much as possible but was partly destroyed during the day and some panic caused by the "Stukas" siren occurred in the rear. On the evening of 13th of May, Marfée wood was reached by German infantry and several pontoon bridges were in construction on the river. On the 14th of May 1940, the panzers could crossed the Meuse river and advanced to the west. The stage is set, the battle lines are drawn, and you are in command. The rest is history.
