Historical Background: After the battle of Feodosia in January 1942 and the soviet counter-attack which destroyed the 18th Romanian Division in February, the Parpach front was quiet during the spring of 1942. But general von Manstein wanted to reduced the soviet threat in Kertch Peninsula before to attack Sevastopol, so on the 8th of May 1942, Operation "Trappenjagd" was launched against Russian troops entrenched in Parpach isthmus.The operation began with a night landing of infantry carried by assault boats to avoid the southern antitank ditch and to attack immediately the land fortifications. The German offensive advanced slowly on the first day and 22.Panzer Division had to repulse several soviet counter-attacks. But after that, the soviet defense weakened and on the 16th of May, German troops entered in Kertch city. The battle lasted 10 days and finished by a German total victory with 170 000 Russian prisoners. The stage is set, the battle lines are drawn, and you are in command. The rest is history.
