Historical Background:
Hungary, October 1944. The first battles on Hungary 's territory (after Trianon). Heroic defense against the attacking Romanian and Soviet units on the lowlands. If the Soviets had reached the Tisza river, they would have had a chance to encircle Hungarian units in Transylvania . This scenario is dedicated to the 7/2 StuG battery's commander and its crew, who fought until their last breath against the T-34s and SU-100s near Csanádpalota. Barnabás's battery destroyed a huge number of Soviet tanks during the fight, but his StuG was destroyed by Soviet tanks. With this heroic action, they deserved "new dead's battery" title.

This scenario depicts the Soviet advance on the Hungarian Plains in late September and early October.

Axis Player: 5 cards
You go first. (See special rule below)

Soviet Player: 6 cards

Conditions of Victory:
6 medals.

The train station of Nagyvárad and each Tisza bridge is a Temporary Medal Objective for the Soviet Player.

The Soviet Player must capture at least one bridge to claim victory.

Special Rules:
All Soviet infantry and armor units are elite (Troops 2 - Specialized units). No badges required.

Axis tank unit marked with an Italian Badge is Barnabás's StuG battery (Troops 2 - Specialized units). Heroic leader rules apply for this unit (Actions 8 - Heroic Leader), with an exception: after the unit is destroyed the hero is lost too and the Soviet player doesn't get an extra medal for this.

Axis artillery is a Heavy Anti-Tank Gun unit (Troops 23 - Heavy Anti-Tank Guns).

Axis infantry marked with Italian badge is Hungarian infantry. No special rules.

Special Weapon Asset rules are in effect (SWAs 1 - Special Weapons Assets) for units equipped with an Anti-Tank weapon (SWAs 2 - Anti-Tank Gun).

The Train is carrying a German armor unit in its wagon.

First turn is special: The Axis Player may order only the StuG battery, without playing a card.

The Soviet artillery unit marked by a battle star is a Katyusha (Troops 14 - Mobile Artillery). Additionally, it's hit on stars because the rockets are mounted on trucks and they are fragile.
