Historical Background:
The men of the 110th infantry regiment thought that the war was winding down. They thought they were in a quiet area. The Second Panzer 26th Volksgrenadier, and Panzer Lehr divisions were about to drive through their positions. Some of the 2nd and Panzer Lehr units crossed the bridges while the rest waited with the 26th Volksgrenadier while pontoon bridges were being built across the Our River. Once they crossed, they would move down to Hosingen, while the 26th tried to clear the road to Bastogne. The 110th was assigned the central section of a 25 mile long position along a road they called Skyline Road. At the resort town of Clervaux (Called Clerf on German maps) was the 110th's command post. Eventually the Panzer Lehr and Volksgrenadier forces reached Clervaux and encircled the town. Finally help came in the form of 707th Tank Battalion which consisted of Stuarts, and some towed guns.
