Historical Background: The landing in the south of France , "Operation Dragoon", happened on the 15th of August 1944. After an Allied paradrop in the area of Le Muy, three US infantry divisions landed on the Mediterranean coast. In the middle of the attack force, the 45th US Infantry Division "Delta Force" had to cross an antitank obstacle built on the beach and called the wall of la Nartelle. After some local fighting, particularly in the village of Sainte-Maxime, units of the 45th US ID advanced across the Maures Mountains by the Gratteloup pass and joined the Allied paratroopers in the evening. Operation Dragoon was successful, French troops under the command of general De Lattre de Tassigny could landed and be involved in the following operations. The stage is set, the battle lines are drawn, and you are in command. The rest is history.
