There are problems with this scenario: it cannot be set-up using the standard terrain tiles of Memoir '44 and the selected extensions. There are too many terrains of one or more types. Please contact the author.

Historical Background:
In this area of the island the ground emanated heat from underground fissures and crevices. The air was hot, and filled with Sulphurous fumes. The terrain was just as uninviting with the volcanic crust cover by massive sandstone buttes, which were surround by a carpet of loose stones. The Japanese had dug countless caves in the rugged landscape, and would force the Marines to face them head on against their well prepaid defensive positions. The Marines orders were simple, advance and clear the area. The campaign had become one more akin to the First World War - a war of attrition.
The stage is set, the battle lines are drawn, and you are in command. The rest is history.
