Turn does not resolve. Lost gold in a stuck match. Thu, 13 October 2011 14:51
I'd joined a game and went first. Makes moves and attacks where my opponent has to retreat with 1 of his units.

He doesn't do it despite me yelling "CLICK ON THE PURPLE HEX!!!" in the chat. Five minutes later he quits - and a bot takes over.

Bot doesn't resolve the move either. The game is stuck.

The end result is a very unpleasant experience and 3 gold lost over nothing.

----------------------------------------
The Dev team should implement a time limit for such actions where if a player doesn't move, the AI or his opponent moves for him.

Also, what's crucial is a help chatline or email to help players recover lost gold in such buggy circumstances. If you're charging people for play time, you are going to have to guarantee played games. MTG-Online has a very good system that you can emulate.
------------------------------------------

Anyway, hope you fix the bug. And I want my 3 gold back.

Ok.... I've just realised something. When "robots" take over a player, they do nothing.

I'd just started another game and it basically went like this.

Me: GLHF
Opponent: I'm new.
Me: Me too.
Opponent: Come play.

<Opponent has left the game. A robot has taken his place.>
<It is Opponent's turn.>

-------------------------------
Robot doesn't do anything. Looks like I'd just lost another 3 gold for nothing.

IDK... I had fun in solo-mode, but this game doesn't appear quite finished for online play. Right now, I'm absolutely not buying further gold until these issues have been solved.

You get your 3 Gold back after 15 minutes if the game freezes like this. Please make sure you submit a Bug Report with the Bug Report form (found in my signature area) so that the problem can be logged and fixed.

Be sure to include the log file, a screen shot if it's necessary, and all of your other info. This is the best way to get the problem fixed!! Cool

Ok... I'll send the log file. But it's 107mb!!!!!!! WOW! 57mb when zipped!

Can't send screenshots as I had already closed the games Sad

But in the first there were just purple squares for my opponent after attacking in turn 1.

In my second game, my turn resolves normally but the AI doesn't move in his turn.

Well, I tried submitting a bug report but all I'm getting is:

The connection was reset

The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.

The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
    moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
    connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

I don't think your servers can handle receiving a 57mb file!

Hello

We are aware of this issue and currently working on it (hence the maintenance mode on M44 online)

Sorry for the inconvenience...

That is huge! I just looked and my biggest Log file, before I zipped it, was 42.9 MB...so I wonder why yours is so big.

Sadly I don't know that much about computers, but in the future if you run into a problem and think it might be a bug, try to zip the file and send it in. If you don't have a screen shot that's ok...the log file is usually more useful.

It looks like DoW knows about this issue, though and is trying to fix it. Have fun once the game is back up and running! If I see you online I'll be happy to play you and I promise not to leave the game. Cool

I have a bug I'd like to submit, but my log file is 78 mb zipped. Why are the files so huge? I suspect that the log contains EVERYTHING done in the program from the time it is opened until it is closed. Something needs to be done though, we can't submit bugs this way.

Logs get that big because the error message repeats
and repeats
and repeats
and repeats
etc.

If the error outputs a bunch of lines of text, wait just a couple minutes and you end up with a huge huge file.

If you fill a report but the file is too big (more than 6 or 7 MB), do not send it with the form. Just tell us, and we will get back to you to find a way to get it.

Also, assuming you can open the log file, you could truncate it fairly aggressively (say down to 5 MB or less) if it's that large and we'd still get the part that tells us what occurred, most likely.

Ok, I wondered about that. I know I can open the file in a text editor, and I found the general 'area' in the file where it occurred. I'll truncate and try it again. thanks!
