For those interested ... note that the DoW database only tells from WHERE you are playing, not your nationality.
So, here are the countries from where the high ranking officers are playing (probably also the home countries for most of them). I will list the countries with the most players first and sort countries with the same number of players after the date on which the first of them reached his rank.
Brigadier Generals (19)
United States - 7
Poland - 2
Netherlands - 1
Denmark - 1
Iceland - 1
New Zealand - 1
United Kingdom - 1
Canada - 1
Belgium - 1
Germany - 1
Croatia - 1
France - 1
Colonels (71)
United States - 23
France - 12
United Kingdom - 10
Belgium - 7
Canada - 5
Finland - 2
Hungary - 2
Netherlands - 1
Danmark - 1
Italy - 1
Ukraine - 1
Portugal - 1
Austria - 1
South Africa - 1
Morocco - 1
Greece - 1
Luxemburg - 1

If we take this as a percentage of their population - Iceland is WAY ahead of any other nation!

Would New Zealand be in 2nd place?
Something about island nations?

It depends on how well you have reproduced the last few years. With population numbers from 2009, you were second, but only barely ahead of Croatia.
Still, 1/300.000 for Iceland is something totally different from 1/4.000.000

I still think New Zealand should be counted as a Dutch province. As it was named in 1643 to the Dutch province Zeeland.
Very beautifull country though. I would like to get back to it once.

The indigenous Maori would deny your claim as they were here first.
As one of British descent I would note that the Dutch never occupied New Zealand in any numbers (until last century LOL).
We welcome all visitors, the lucky ones are allowed to stay awhile. If you're really good you can even settle here.

With our second Belgian Brigadier General, Belgium just shot up to 3rd place in this ranking. Way to go.
With quite alot of colonels, 2nd place is within our reach.

That is, if you guys don't start quarreling and demand that you should be separated into Flemings and Walloons.

But true, only one general (Mr_simon).

Oh please no ... personally I don't want to be split in two, and I don't know which parent to choose in case of a separation.

Maybe you can up your tally by annexating the french speaking parts of Belgium.
Torboheizer is predicting a separation, so we'll be weak.
But be careful: I've line up my Memoir44 tanks to fend of any invasion.

Tempting hey !, but I won't go that far...
I went through the colonels' pages, and I believe there are around 18-20 french players among them (for 2-3, I am not sure ; about Titanos, I know he lives "outre-Quievrain").

I say we stay faithful to the borders of the Peace of Westphalia... That would make most of the Belgium players Spanish citizens, so we'll avoid that whole Flemish/Walloon discussion.

We could also go back to 1940 which would make Flemings and Walloons, along with others, citizens of the german Third Reich.

Wrong. Only Eupen-Malmedy was (re)annexed to Germany on 18 May 1940. The rest of Belgium remained an occupied, but formally sovereign country under the rule of King Leopold (who, just as the Danish king, did not go into exile).

That is, if you guys don't start quarreling and demand that you should be separated into Flemings and Walloons.
Untill 1830 it was The Netherlands all the way, with Luxemburg.

That depends: if we don't seperate but become a confederal state, like the USA, you can keep combining our results. Otherwise you also have to divide the numbers of the United States of America per state, but they won't like that.
But let's stop talking politics on this forum. RB said we have to have fun.
