Thanks Jesse!

It looks like they are teasing us with a possible campaign book involving the D-Day landings.

See some HOBARTS coming ashore....

So D-Day images and Jesse creating an Eastern Front gaming event on Facebook hopefully means we are due a cool campaign book. The Hobart in the image suggests it is an expansion that uses previously released figures.
Hopefully I have budgetted enough for the releases this year. Rolling Eyes

Allo Allo! That is Michele Dubois, leader of the French Resistance near Rene Artoi's Cafe, and originator of the catch-phrase "Listen very carefully, I shall say this only once".

Oh and while were on the subject (sort of):

"Danny Boy calling Broadsword. Do you have it?" It being I hope a whopping new revision to the campaign system.

Don't read anything into my creation of the Easter Front gaming event in the Facebook group...it is not related to this in any way. It was just an idea of a fun way to encourage us all to break out our Memoir '44 stuff! Smile

Hasn't anyone noticed that if you connect crucial lines on the picture this ads up to the letters B (from Bigot) and ACH (from beach)+ the number 14 (from 14 juin).
http://i1083.photobucket.com/albums/j383/DiederC/kaart_zps2fd26548.jpg
This must refer to cantate number 4 by BACH that is named: "Wär Gott nicht mit uns diese zeit"!
We all know the motto "Gott mit uns" on the German belt buckle. It stands for their belief in the final victory.

Bach wrote this cantate in Leipzig, a city like Dresden that turned into an inferno. God wasn't with them anymore. Read the text here (http://www.emmanuelmusic.org/notes_translations/translations _cantata/t_bwv014.htm) and try to read the despair between the lines. Chilling.

So the upcomming expansion must cover the final destruction of nazi-Germany (maybe some carpet bombing included).

Confused

Clearly DoW is making a feature-length film about Leipzig, with a soundtrack by Bach and starting Kevin Bacon! I would have thought this was obvious from the clues!! Laughing Laughing

Hopefully its something like the higher-level campaign system I talked about earlier in this thread, at least that's what the overview map in the Facebook image looks like.

http://www.daysofwonder.com/en/msg/?th=26159&prevloaded= 1&rev=&reveal=&start=42&count=40

But more likely its akin to the experimental campaign system someone was working on at DOW (Antoine maybe?).

But its fruitless to speculate at this point.

It was.
But what was also obvious is that this time it is in French with English subtitles. Rolling Eyes
All the documents and reading materials filling up the screen are in French.
The documents under the book to the left are mostly hidden but in English.
VOILA!!!!

Hence a reference back to a DOW document which is in French but possibly being translated into English. Shocked Shocked Shocked

The authors initial are A. B?
Antony Beevor = Alexis Beuve

Hope not a campaign book but a scenarios books with historical context and some badges and hex more to complete the original box of M44!! Too much rules with dices in campaign books, playing scenarios are they are is better and you you have with dices result and commands card choice many changes possible in fact. No needs to make more, I think.
I often play campaign with no dices rules. And you?

It seems : no figures!

How about some M44 reenactment stuff?

Uniforms (Brits wear short pants, even in winter), vacuum cleaner sized tanks and arty, and hex shaped carpets in different colours.

But don't tell the wife. Cool

It's too bad that so many responses in this thread were comic. I looked back at my post 17 months ago, and still agree with it.

The Basic game board is too small (9x13) for some scenarios (mainly North African desert and Eastern Front). Units can be destroyed much easier when they are backed up against the baseline.

We need a "Great Tank Battles" expansion that can expand the board up to two rows. You'd put a card or board on either side to add a new row, which would also have medal spots for those scenarios over 6 medals. Then some scenarios could be 10x13 and others 11x13, similar to Operation Market Garden.

I'd like to see an official scenario with just basic units and terrain plus Tank Destroyers, to showcase how these units work. All the scenarios I've seen with them have other "new" stuff which you have to learn at the same time.

BT is too long for me both in size and time, so I'd rather play two normal games in the same time. OL takes a long time too, though it doesn't usually last that many rounds.

I've tried some campaigns, and have been rather disappointed. Even when we used scenarios that were balanced, an upset or blowout could decide the campaign.

Finally, from other threads, the editing or proofing for BT and CBs was not great, as I'm told there's a number of typos and errors. The errata and clarification I have for BT is over a page, and that book isn't big, maybe a dozen pages?

So let's take time to make balanced scenarios, then proof the manual to make sure it's clear and correct.

PS: Early war Air Power card ("Air Strike" sounds better) for 1d per target for both sides, is the way to go!

At this point the next expansion has already been thought of and created. Maybe some of these ideas could be used for future expansions, but remember that these need to be expansions DoW thinks they can sell to a wider audience...

Yes, that makes sense.

My second point still stands...many of the suggestions would indeed be fun, but DoW has to figure out what will sell to a larger audience and Richard Borg has to be excited about the idea since he's the one who is behind the game. So even though we might like an idea, we are a vocal minority and it comes down to what Richard likes and what will sell.

Of course everyone probably knows this, so just ignore me and carry on! Very Happy

WIKIPEDIA says: "Un ventriloque est un illusionniste qui fait parler son ventre au sens étymologique".
"Ventriloquism, or ventriloquy, is an act of stagecraft in which a person (a ventriloquist) changes his or her voice so that it appears that the voice is coming from elsewhere, usually a puppeteered "dummy"."

So maybe it's "Rupert", the parachute doll:
