NC 2008 registration REMINDER Fri, 22 August 2008 13:10
Please all interested in playing NC - be reminded that the regsitration for national teams closes this Sunday (August 24th) at 11 pm GMT! and that registration is open for TN teams from that time.

I was asked about prolonging registration for National teams as some teams seem to have little problems getting the OK of all players due to the main holidays in Europe. This is not possible as the TN players need time too and they depend on registration of the other teams (overhangs etc.)

Especially the french teams seem to have that problem (guess all players are at the Atlantik?). To help them out I accepted that in case they do not clear everything they can register in ONE french registration post and then take one more week to sort out who plays in which team and who will be captain etc. It is accepted, that NO french player will play in a TN team!

For all other teams that have problems with deciding who is captain etc. - register and clear the captains problem later.

I think we should also accept it that small teams (Canada/GB/Finnland/Italy? etc... ) that may have problems at the moment due to holidays may add players of their nationality during the TN registration phase.

REGISTRATION FOR NATIONAL TEAMS ENDS
SUNDAY 24th at 11 pm GMT

ALSO I WANT TO REMIND YOU THAT ALL PLAYERS IN NC MUST BE REGISTERED PLAYERS!

Groups are split up into groups according to the ELO sum of the 6 best players. Guests cannot be counted for that sum as their ELO score is not accessable. So if anyone gets a webcard AFTER that point she/he may change the team ranking that way, which is not tolerable. So I am sorry, but anyone that is not registered at the end of registration phase2 (when the teams are split up in groups) will have to be dismissed!

Captains - please make sure all your players have a webcard Rolling Eyes

Thanks again, Masimo.

We do all that we can to be ready and clear for sunday evening... but if not, we will do as you mentionned (only one temporary registration), before to have the french teams definitively formed.

And yes, we all agree that no french top player would be allowed to play in a TN Team... no problem with that, of course !

Cu,

PS : and yes, all french top players are, or were, in the Altantic Coast, cause in the French Riviera, there are really too many Germans and Dutchies making them roast... one side, other side... horrible ! terrific ! Laughing Laughing Laughing

I would appreciate if all captains would please PM me the email address they want to use to send me their lineups each week. I would prefer not to use PM for that.

Thanks!

Thanks Scott for doing this for us! I am sure there is a way to get you access to the TD-account even while your own status is guest. I will try to take care of that during next week and we can talk how to make the job easiest for you - I`ll get in contact with you.

right now I have another request from the italian players that seem to have all their players on vacation too. It looks like they need another week too (three players sure to play) - With three players they could get Transnational and use the remaining two weeks to register TN, but I think we should also allow them to register as "pure Italian team" if they can make it within that time. I hate exeptions and we have to think about the time frame for registration for next year - still for new teams/players I think we should be a little more patient.

Hi

I don't see any problem in the rules that in the transnational phase any national team is forming. Why so? They are free to built a "TN-team" and call it Italian after this. We can't force it, i think, with the given rule. But as we have seen this year, most nations were really eager to get a national team together. I appreciate that. And even Peter is now in the team where he belongs, sometimes you have to shuffle a bit Wink

Good rule, that the country you live or work or study is allowed too Rolling Eyes

hi,

the TD account just needs to be activated, I am sure Franck will take care of it. I will be back home by monday evening (Chicago time), I can send you the pw and every other information by then.

Same for my account btw, I have a webcard somewhere in my desk, just need to find it once I am back.

Hi Scott,

Glad to see you as a TD.
May you be fair and juris prudent, without much complaint from the pack.

Lean on Thadd. She has been a great one for years at this.

Hi

Interesting.

As i see it (and read the discussion in the french forum) it may be possible for the french to build 3 OR 4 teams this year. They have 29 to 30 players, make 10 players at 3 teams or 7 players at 4 teams.

Maybe this is the chance to find a suitable distribution for the groups.

With 2 TN teams we have 23 teams (if i am correct now), so another french team would be splendid. With 3 TN teams... well let's see whats happen.

bye, erps

@Zimo
Actually, I would suspect either sparkling or distilled. TGV is not just a train, it stands for The Great Vineyards, and Red, White and Rose refer to the wines. While sparkling might be the simpler choice, I would love to see a team built around brandy, cognac, armagnac, and so on. As it is, note that Baraka is stretching things with his choice of Cidre.

@erps
Agreed. With 23 expect 8-8-7. With 24, the choice is between 8-8-8 and 6-6-6-6, and I expect the former would edge out the latter in a vote. With 25, the choice between 9-8-8 and 7-6-6-6 might tip the other way. I think most people want at least five matches, but no more than two months of clashes. Four groups leads to simpler advancement criteria, which might contribute to some people's vote.

Actually, i think we could consider the number of TN teams to register 3 OR 4 TGV teams, in oder to reach the 24 teams number, which seems to be the best number.
I see 2 TN teams in progress so far: Aussies-Kiwis-Asians and Italy-?Portugal??. If a third TN team is in progress, please keep us (the frenchies) informed, so we could try to organize our teams accordingly. ASAP!

NB: i like Zimo's digestive TGV concept.

@ toutoune, Elric and the other french players:

we have 18 registered teams now (not including the french teams but the italians) -
I know that Miguel is able to form a TN team and that Alleyooper is trying to form an Australasian team - that would make it 20

so it really may depend on you if we end up 23 or 24 (and I personally would prefer 24 much more than 23 .....)

let us check with Alleyooper how far he is with his team and with the Italians whether they really succeed in forming their team.

As soon as I have some answers I will also get in contact with all the teams so that we can then sort out how we will do the splitting up, ok?

WELCOME IN NC 2008 ITALIA

when I just rechecked I noticed that angelo registered 7 players! GREAT! very nice to have a team from Italia. So what we can say for now - it will be the largest NC ever - with teams from 12!!! nations registered! And I am quite positive that Alleyooper will succeed in forming a TN team - from my last info you were 7 already, Alley? So it looks like a 24 team NC!

I have an idea : How about forming a team of people from the ISLANDS? That would include Oceania (Australia & New Zealand) but also exotic locations like Hawaiian isles (yes, part of USA but fits the criteria) Pacific isles, Antarctica (formerly ruled by Baron Laughing ) Madagascar, and Japan and Indonesia and Philippines (large groups of islands) etc etc. Let those folks who live on a boat join too. Even STW can join, since he is probably saving the whales on a boat somewhere. It is a very simple criterion, but admits of many people. Oh STW, if you have any intelligent beached whales, they can sign up too Razz

I would say close the registration. It was now enough time to found a team and 24 is a perfect number. Too late is now too late.

Hi

Please, captains. If you change your ranking (adding players) in the last hours/minutes SEND me a PM to "TRB erps" and NOT "erps" Wink It was pure coincidence that i found the last pm... (Clicked on log out and then reentered as erps by mistake lol).

In the last minutes i will attend the lobby, so you have to TALK to me in this case something is happening.

And please SOS: Say Peter he has to enter a web code!!!!

bye, erps
